Playboy (1-year)
Reviews : A great magazine, but abysmal print quality.
I like the magazine, but the past 2 years the print quality has been the absolute worst. I can't find a single magazine on the entire news stand with more shoddy printing than Playboy. It is not damage, it comes from the printers that way. Every single issue will be like that. I can get one in the mail with a warped spine and other defects. Then get one at a book store with identical problems. Then order one from Amazon with the same problems. Then get one from another city, or another seller, with the exact same problems.
I have brought this to their attention. They just don't care. Before early 2007, the quality was great, straight flat spine, no defects of any kind. If you did find a bad one, a good copy was easy to find. Now it's all crap.
It's really a shame too, it has great articles and pictures. I still like to read it. But I don't understand how they are not completely embarrassed to have by far the worst print quality of any magazine currently in circulation.
Another thing that puzzles me. How is it possible for the news stand specials (lingerie, nudes, etc.) to be perfect, yet the main magazine to be all bent up?
the articles really are good
it's a cliche, but I really do enjoy the articles... it's certainly better than GQ or Maxim.... and hey, naked women are awesome.

Mental Floss
Reviews : Mental Floss magazine
Packed full of interesting, fun facts. Only problem is that it is too packed full. But we will keep picking it up and learning new things.
Save your Money
I wonder who came up with "Mental Floss"? It's more like "Can you Think"? Very little in this gloss that you wouldn't find in your local paper, near the trivia questions and funny pages. Nothing...zero...nata. Save a tree.

Glamour (1-year)
Reviews : a "light cosmo"
This magazine is a lighter version of Cosmo. But to do the magazine justice there are indeed more in-depth and interesting articles about people and issues compared to the mostly sex and dating tip-filled (and bad tips if I might add) Cosmopolitan Magazine. Overall, I think Glamour magazine is entertaining. I enjoy it. I used to love the more humorous segments with a girl acting out something embarrassingly goofy on the streets and being photographed but it seems like they've been veering away from that. I also enjoy the book reviews (which also seems to be decreasing) .. hopefully it's not slowly evolving into a Cosmo rival full-blown. I don't plan to discontinue my subscription any time soon!
Single a documentary film
Glamour has maintained it's leadership role as a style leader for its demographic. It's ability to create the image of the young and sexy has a powerful impact. If you enjoy this magazine you will almost certainly enjoy the new dvd "Single a documentary film"..."Single" features a cast
of entertaining and thought provoking experts,comics,singer/songwriters,and "real people" sharing their insights and observations about the complexities of relationships in todays crazy world.

Us Weekly (1-year)
Reviews : Excellent Look Into The Lives Of Celebs! They're Not Just Like Us, But "US Weekly" Will Make You Feel That They Are!!
"US Weekly" is an excellent magazine when they're not wasting space on "The Hills" and all that fake drama (and no-name "celebs"). It gives the reader a look into the lives of stars. That's basically what people want from it, a guilty pleasure...escapism. What's so-and-so been up to this week while I had a crap week at my job(?)
Of course people love to see celebs go down in flames, hence the # of covers devoted to Britney (or Anna Nicole, Lohan, etc...) during her "breakdown." There's plenty of that here. It's not my thing, but it must be somebody's!
Judging by the most recent reviews, people didn't like the Sarah Palin cover. I didn't much like all the attention she got either. It was a waste. But I immediately re-upped my subscription for a year after that story ran. I also just bought 5 gift subscriptions for friends. (Mags make great gifts...you get something new every week!)
At less than half the price of "People" ("People" is a better mag, but it sells for $116/year..."US" is $52/year), how can you go wrong? You can even get a deal on it now and then through Amazon. Just keep checking.
Love my "US!"
Credibility is very poor!
Earlier in the year, I bought this magazine based upon the cover stories. Right after I purchased the magazine, the cover stories proved to be FAKE. In addition, they copy much of their material from PEOPLE magazine. I recommend you buy PEOPLE instead of this magazine.

New York Magazine
Reviews : New York magazine subscription
Truthfully, I thought I had ordered 'The New Yorker'; however, I received my first issue last week and was quite happy with 'New York." A one-year's subscription for $15 ($19.99 - $5.00 Amazon coupon) was quite the deal! Thanks!
Second Only To The New Yorker
New York magazine has been around since the 1960s, and I've been reading it since then. It's gone through its ups and downs over the years, but now it contains indispensable articles not only pertaining to New York City, but it is also a guide to the latest happenings in New York. Highly recommended.
