Transcend TS8GSDHC6-S5W 8GB SDHC6 Memory Card with Card Reader
Reviews : Excellent Value - but be careful where you order it from...
I purchased the 16GB version (Transcend 16GB SDHC CARD with Compact Card Reader) of this package a few months ago. The card was meant to be used in my Canon S5 camera. But I soon discovered that it works extremely well with the included card reader as an USB flash drive (much larger and faster than my SanDisk 4GB Cruzer Micro). So I ended up using it mainly for data backup and transfer between my laptop and desktop computers. The card has proven to be fast and reliable in the past 2-3 months of daily usage.
As first I was skeptical about Transcend's speed rating of 'class 6' (which means minimum 6MB/S in writing). But my own benchmark showed that this card is actually capable of writing at 11.5MB/S - nearly twice its specified minimum data transfer rate. Just for reference, the Sandisk 8GB EXTREME III claims a faster speed of 20MB/S, but it costs about twice as much.
Considering its low cost and respectable speed, this Transcend card is an excellent buy. But please make sure that you order it from a reputable vendor only. Several reviewers who ordered the 16GB version from TheMemStore complained that they received some no-name card reader (instead of the Transcend DRS5). This may explain why some people have encountered problems when using this card.
Great for long trips abroad
I actually bought this card many months ago before they introduced the reader with it as a package deal, and I am considering buying another one just for the reader. Another reviewer mentions to "think twice" if this is why you might want to buy it, and I am... but the card really is good on its own in any case. I took it to a 3-week pilgrimage in Spain (where computer access was little to none) and was able to save a whopping 729 photographs on a 7.1MP Canon Elph -- plus room for more, I later found. I didn't upload any of the photos until I returned stateside, and many are still on the camera so that I can show them to people using the camera itself.
For computer usage, I found the card to be decent, but not spectacular. It runs ok with an Asus Eee PC on Linux, and ok on a Dell with Vista. Try popping the thing into your Treo, though, and Windows Mobile freaks out a bit.
I think I'll still get another one, though.

Kingston 2GB Secure Digital Memory Card (SD/2GB, Retail Package)
Reviews : CHECK COMPATIBILITY FIRST...then order.
I didn't think my Casio EX-Z40 was that old, so I went ahead an ordered this 2GB 50X Kingston memory card in the hopes that I could take a ton more photos. Of course, my first experience using this memory card was at my Great Grandmother's 100th birthday. I went to shoot video and once I finished and went to save it the screen popped up with "System Error". WHAT?!! This became very common with this memory card. I am frustrated more at Casio I suppose than this memory card, but it's hard to tell which one is actually the culprit, as other memory cards have worked great. If you are not really hard up on how fast it saves the file, I would perhaps check with your camera/device for compatibility before making this purchase. I guess I could try using this in my HD video camera. The intermittent function of the card will ruin taking photos at an event and you will want to put your camera away, so better to be safe than sorry...even if it only costs sixteen bucks. I rate this a 4 out of 5, just for the mere fact that it works when it wants to.
Works great!
I was reluctant to try this because the price seemed too good to be true. I'm so glad I did - it is terrific!

Kingston DTI 4 GB USB Flash Drive
Reviews : Kingston Flash Drive
Took longer to arrive than expected, and now that I have it the keychain loop broke off with very little pressure. Much less quality than I expected.
Does the job for a bargain price!
This works as I expected, with no issues so far. The price can't be beat.

Transcend 16GB SDHC CARD (SD 2.0 SPD CLASS 6) with Compact Card Reader
Reviews : Large memory size makes it slow.
I boughtt this SD card and reader to use for my remote surveillance camera videos. It had no problems with capturing tthe video nor playing them back . The large capacity made it possible to keep larger files, which translates into higher quality videos.
I did notice, however, that despite the fact that it worked flawlessly in the camera and computer, the speed of transfer was slower than other cards I tried in the same reader. Just by rough estimate this card transferred a little less than 1 meg/second. My other cards did about twice that. Add to this the huge capacity and you'll find that filling the full 16Gigs from scratch will be a time consuming activity. Otherwise, this card seems perfectly suited to the task I need it for.
Not as advertised
This item consists 2 pieces - 16 Gb SD card and USB card reader. However, the shipped card reader is not as described (transcend brand), it is OEM in which quality and time of service is questionable.
