Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset with Multipoint Technology
Reviews : satisfied customer
I like that this product because it has separate buttons for volume and on/off and call answer. It is very easy to use and has good sound clarity.
Can You Hear Me Now?
Recently I upgraded from the Plantronics 220 to the Voyager 510. Unlike the smaller 220, it is definitely larger and you certainly won't forget that you have it on. The power button is not located in the easiest of places either. One must turn it on prior to affixing to the ear. The call button is located on the side for easy access. The wind-screened boom mike is flexible and is a nice addition. Clarity is great while working indoors. The jury is out on the wind/noise cancellation feature. While driving, people still have a hard time hearing me. That also applies when outdoors. Reception away from my cell phone becomes muddled after about 18 feet. Which is great compared to other units that I have operated in the past. Like all Plantronics Bluetooth gear, the 510 programs easily to my phone. Battery life is averaging about 6 hours. Retail outlets including the always overpriced, overrated BestBuy are selling the Voyager 510 for $79.99. As usual Amazon offers it at a better price at $42 bucks.

Measuring 2.7 x 1.0 x 0.9 inches and weighing a mere 0.3 ounces, you'll barely know that the Discovery 925 is in your ear. But with its striking onyx-black and silver color combination and minimalist features, this one-of-a-kind earpiece will surely get you noticed--in a good way. (The earpiece is also available in alchemy-gold and cerise-pink).
The Discovery 925 is designed to follow the contours of your cheek. It features a filtered glass bead that's been blasted and anodized for a ceramic high-gloss elegant finish. The ultra-lightweight design offers a secure comfortable fit so you can stay connected hands-free for hours. And the earpiece includes three uniquely shaped gel eartips--small, medium and large--that are designed to conform snugly to the contours of your ear without the need for an earloop stabilizer, so nothing will interfere with earrings or eyewear.
Once you place the earpiece into your ear, making calls is as simple as it gets. It has a multi-function button on the diamond-shaped face that powers the device, dials or releases calls, triggers voice dialing, or kicks the earpiece into pairing mode. A second button lets you control the volume. For voice clarity, a 1.9-inch boom brings the microphone closer to your mouth to reduce background noise as you talk. The boom mic also houses the earpiece's antenna. And finally, a micro-USB port is located on the side of the earpiece for charging.
AudioIQ Noise Control and On-the-Go Charging
The Discovery 925 features AudioIQ technology that blocks out annoying background noise in most situations, giving you clear calls every time. The earpiece lets you roam up to 33 feet from your Bluetooth phone and it supports multipoint technology, which allows two Bluetooth devices to be paired to the earpiece. This means you can receive and make calls from two of your phones without having to switch earpieces.
The Discovery 925 runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery that gives you up to five hours of talk time and up to seven days of standby time from a single charge. And when the earpiece is not in use, you can store it in its unique color-coordinated case, which performs double duty with its sturdy but stylish construction and its integrated rechargeable battery. Not only will the case protect the earpiece from everyday hazards, but it will also keep your earpiece charged. Simply charge the case directly with the included AC charger or USB cable--with or without the earpiece in place--and when fully charged, it will have enough power provide your earpiece up to five hours of talk time for when you need it.
Of course you can still charge the ear piece directly with the AC charger, but with this convenient recharging case, you don't have to worry about your earpiece running out of power while you're on the go. Just place your earpiece in the case, and safely store it in your handbag or briefcase. When you're ready to use it again, it will be fully charged with enough power for up to five hours of talk time.
The Discovery 925 is backed by a Plantronics 1-year limited warranty.
What's in the Box

Jawbone Bluetooth Headset with NoiseAssassin-Jawbone II (Black)
Reviews : Setting new standards for mobile voice clarity and personal style, the new Jawbone Bluetooth headset by Aliph represents a complete departure from the gadgetry of the mobile headset industry. Originally developed for military use in extreme environments, Jawbone features NoiseAssassin--a proprietary technology that eliminates background noise from mobile phone conversations. Jawbone is the only Bluetooth headset with a Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) that actually feels your speech, which helps Jawbone distinguish your voice from background noise.

Military-Grade NoiseAssassin Technology
Developed over years of research for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Jawbone's NoiseAssassin eliminates real world noise better than competing headset because it's the only hands free device that accurately separates human speech from ambient noise. Unmatched in its ability to remove noise from loud environments like busy streets, cars, crowded cafes, and airports, NoiseAssassin is comprised of two features unique to Jawbone: a patented Voice Activity Sensor (VAS) and proprietary Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms. Jawbone is the only Bluetooth headset with a VAS that feels the speech vibrations from your jaw. This enables Jawbone to capture the distinct frequencies of your voice. Proprietary DSP algorithms work in concert with two powerful microphones and the VAS to accurately model surrounding noise and aggressively eliminate it from the conversation.
Conventional "noise suppression" headsets do not have a Voice Activity Sensor and can only estimate when speech is occurring. This causes performance issues like voice distortion, especially in the presence background noise.
Not Just a Headset, It's Earwear
Made with premium materials like medical-grade plastic and fine leather, the new Jawbone with NoiseAssassin combines science and beauty in the most unassuming, yet richly detailed product. Every effort has been made to contain best in class noise suppression technology in a miniature form that is 50 percent smaller than the original, award-winning Jawbone.
The new Jawbone accomplishes a clean and sophisticated look thanks to invisible buttons. Touch-surface technology allows the user to operate switches by lightly pressing the outer shield. Curved and rectilinear to follow the face, the outer shield is lightly textured and inspired by three-dimensional noise abatement surfaces. The infer surface, the one touching your face and creating contact with the Voice Activity Sensor, is gently curved to be ergonomic and comfortable on your skin.
Offering a comfortable and personalized fit, the new Jawbone comes with three sizes of earbuds and four earloops--two sizes of leather and two of slim, which are ideal for use with eyeglasses. Jawbone can also be worn on either ear and with or without an earloop.

BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Handsfree (Black)
Reviews : good, but not great for iPhone 3G (2.x software)
Very easy to pair and works well with iphone for making and receiving calls.
Verbal caller ID doesn't work (will announce number, but not the name) as you can't import the address book from an iPhone 3G. I talked to their support folks, and they don't have a solution. They thought it was a network (ATT) or iPhone 3G issue as it worked with the original iPhone.
I also have an original iPhone and tried that as well -- no luck. I don't think it's the version of the phone, but rather the 2.x software for the phone (as opposed to the 1.0 software that shipped with the original phone).
Without the phone book and voice dialing features (both of which are probably iPhone compatibility issues), don't know that it's worth the extra cost.
Works excellent!
I got this because I got tired of wearing a bluetooth device in my ear.
This unit works excellent with my Treo 700p and Blackberry Curve 8330. Paired with both phones and even downloaded my address book. Very simple and had no issues with pairing. As for voice and sound quality, on my end it is loud and clear. On the other end, people said it was fine but knew I was on speakerphone but they didn't complained about it. However, for some reason they only noticed it when I used my Treo 700p. If I used my Blackberry then they couldn't tell as easily or not at all. Not sure why.
The placement of big buttons makes it very easy to use without looking. I like it so much, I'm buying a second unit for my wife. I would highly recommend it but read the instructions on downloading phone books for Blackberry and smartphones and you will have no problems. Thanks.

BlackBerry Rubberized Skin for 8300, 8310, 8320, and 8330 Curve Devices (Black)
Reviews : BB Black Skin
This is a great product. It is made of good material and you do not have to peel back the skin to use the speaker or other side features. (Some skins do not have pre-cut holes to access features) The black color is nice and not "marbled" or transparent.
Great but one caution
Good case - it prevents loss more than damage (doesn't fall out of pockets, slide off surfaces). But never get it in contact with Silly Puddy. Don't ask me why it happened, but what a mess....

Aliph Jawbone Noise Shield Bluetooth Headset (Black)
Reviews : These days, it seems that wireless Bluetooth headsets are a dime a dozen, but Aliph's Jawbone stands apart from the pack due to its unique look and some seriously amazing noise canceling technology. Originally developed for DARPA (The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) to create a communication headset that would pick up voice in hostile environments, the Jawbone offers some of the best clarity from a Bluetooth headset we've experienced. This version comes in black, but it's also available in red and gray.
![]() Sophisticated modern industrial style meets the next step in audio technology with the Jawbone Bluetooth headset. |
![]() It can be worn on either ear, and you can customize your fit by choosing from one of the included earloops and earbuds. |
![]() |
The Jawbone can be worn on either ear, and it comes with four earloops of varying sizes to fit your lobe. Made of solid metal with a rubber cover, they're fairly comfortable around the ear. The trick, however, is getting it on over the ear, and this is the Jawbone's biggest disappointment. Because it's so stiff, you literally have to use both hands to try to slip it on over your ear. And since we don't wear our headset constantly, we missed a few calls while performing this dance. Also, the metal frame does bend (as we found after carrying it in our pocket), which can be viewed as an annoyance or as a feature--enabling you to form-fit the frame to your ear. It also comes with five ear pads of varying shapes and sizes, and we tried one of the teardrop shaped pads to secure the Jawbone inside our ear sans metal frame--it was comfortable and worked for awhile, but isn't a solution if you're moving around a lot.
As with Steve Jobs, Behar is not a fan of protruding buttons. Thus, the Jawbone's two controls are hidden within the headset, requiring you to press either the front or back of the unit to answer calls, adjust volume, or turn on/off the noise cancellation function. While we've read some reviews that complained about these hidden controls, we had no problem in accessing them and appreciated their tactile response. The Jawbone also comes with a custom-fit recharging cable that can either plug into a PC's USB port or into the included wall jack. We enjoyed the flexibility of the USB charging, but wished the cable could have been a more standard USB mini-jack (for those times when you forget to bring the cable along).
But the true test of the Jawbone is how its "noise shield" performed. First, a little about this technology. The Jawbone has a small piece of rubbery plastic that protrudes from the bulbous microphone and sits flush against your face, and this sensor tells the Jawbone whether or not you're speaking and can remove background noise from your ongoing speech signal. It can also dynamically adjust the volume of the incoming audio from your call.
We tried the Jawbone in a number of different situations, and for the most part it worked flawlessly. Sitting at our desk with the stereo volume cranked up while playing The Chemical Brothers, our call partner was none the wiser. She didn't hear any of the music coming through, and our voice came through strong on her end. While standing on a street corner, the undulations of traffic noise never made it through to our caller, while we noticed an uptick in volume with an increase in traffic noise.
However, the Jawbone wasn't perfect, as it doesn't do a great job in windy situations. Still, for the good majority of situations you'll find yourself in--from busy airports to talk-heavy coffeehouses to traffic-laden city streets--the Jawbone should perform very well, masking the surroundings to improve fidelity for you call partner as well adapting your ear volume to the surrounding environment. We just wish the ear frame was a bit more flexible.
Pros:
- Amazing background noise masking capabilities--even when faced with loud, thumping music
- Outstanding adaptive volume as the environment around you changes
- Options for customizing the fit
- Metal earloop frames are hard to quickly put on
- Non-standard USB connection is a bummer if you forget the cable at home
